Stuart Ecklin Obituary

Stuart Theodore Ecklin passed away peacefully on December 8, 2019 at the age of 77 years with his family by his side. Stuart was born July 24, 1942 in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan to Rose (Schafer) and Clarence Ecklin.  He was the second youngest of six children.  Stuart married Evelyn Mattis on July 2, 1966 and together they raised three children, Kevin, Kelvin and Kimberly.
Stuart started working construction with his Dad and brothers.  He worked in many places; from the West in Calderbank, North to Meadow Lake and East to Dauphin, MB.  Stuart built roads and worked doing all sorts of road construction driving grader, scrapers and Cats.   He worked for IMC in 1973.  After the mine, he moved on to drive the grader for the RM of Fertile Belt for 26 years. Dad received many compliments of grading he had done. The roads are never the same since he retired. After retirement, he went to work for Ficek Transport driving the grader. He looked after the roads at the mine site and graded the leases out at the mine. Dad could   always be counted on for being a backup for the boys slo-pitch teams.
Stuart is survived by his wife of 53 years Evelyn; son Kevin (Leanne)  Ashley, Ryan, Emma and Taylor; son Kelvin; daughter Kimberly (Darcy) Spilchen. Stuart is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Marlene Redbourne, Larry and Valinda Ecklin, Jane and Rupe Inch, Lorne and Belinda Ecklin, Barry and Laura Spence, Yvonne and Neil Bromstad; sisters-in-law Eleanor Ecklin, Laura Mattis and Sharon Mattis.  Also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Stuart was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Rose (Wilson) Spence; in-laws Reinhold and Ida Mattis; brother Gary Spence and sister Elaine Engel; brothers in-law Paul Mattis and Alfred Mattis.
