Raymond Anthony Neumeier

Raymond Neumeier passed away peacefully on February 7, 2019 at the age of 73 years.  Born to Lawrence and Bernice, Ray was raised on the family farm in Langenburg, SK, the oldest of seven children.  In 1968, he married Barbara Fieseler, also of Langenburg, and they moved to Esterhazy to build a life and start a family. That same year, he started a 35 year working career at the IMC potash mine.  In the coming years, they were blessed with five children.

The outdoors and the beauty of the Saskatchewan seasons captivated Ray.  Springtime was spent in his greenhouse and planting the garden.  Summers were spent camping and on the water at Crooked Lake trying to hook a pickerel.  Autumn was spent helping good friends bring in the harvest and in the stands at Taylor Field cheering on the Roughriders.  Winter was spent back on the frozen lake (still chasing that pickerel) and planning the next season’s garden.

Ray devoted his adult life to the Scouting movement.  He loved everything that Scouts represented and he impacted a generation of Esterhazy Scouts in his more than 35 years of service as “Scouter Ray”, teaching them how to live by the Scout law and sharing in his love for nature.  He especially treasured the lifelong friendships he created with Scouters far and wide.

Ray is survived by daughters Colleen (Peter), Heather and Denise (Jeff), sons Marty (Melissa) and Dean (Melanie) and 9 cherished grandchildren; Dawson, Dylan, Meghan, Taeya, Andrew, Leah, Jake, Sonya and Emma.  He was predeceased by his beautiful wife, Barbara and his parents.
