Emile passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on the morning of July 22, 2019 at Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Saskatchewan.
Emile Ronald Roussin was born in Birtle, Manitoba to Wilfred and Delia (Tourond). He was the fifth of twelve children. He started working at a young age, bringing water home, chopping wood. He attended school in St. Lazare, Atwater and Gerald. He then went to work for construction at the K2 mine.
In 1966 he met and married Monica Genereux. They had their first born, a daughter, Kathleen and then later a son, Ronald. They lived in Saskatoon for their first two years, and then moved on to Quebec for several months. Emile was working for a shaft sinking company and was transferred to Timmins, Ontario to work for Texas Gulf Sulfur. In 1973, Emile moved the family back to Gerald and bought their first little house. In the fall, he joined the Iron Workers and was employed at different jobs all over Saskatchewan for 38 years.
Emile enjoyed playing fastball, broomball and slow pitch for most of those years. He was an avid quadder and loved being on his quad.
In 2005, Emile and Monica bought a property at Round Lake. He did most of the finishing of the house and learned the art of stonework, which he completed the house with.
He lived on the ice, fishing, quadding, and ski-dooing. His grandchildren and nieces and nephews loved to come down and have a cup of tea and go ice fishing.
Emile had a very deep faith and loved his parish family at St. Wenceslaus where he would keep the coffee on, on Sunday’s and ring the bells after the rosary, with the beautiful children at church.
Our hearts are broken, but we know where he is and he is at peace.
Emile will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Monica; children Kathleen (Charles) and Ron (Angela). Emile also leaves his grandchildren Taryn, Sebastian, Julian, Sydney, Big Hunter, Little Hunter, Xavia, and Renee; great granddaughter Saoirse; many nieces and nephews; and his siblings, Laurent (Susan), Delphine, Frances (Denis), Marge (Ron), Ron Sr., Angie, Claude, Ricky (Jean), and Mary Ann (Gordon).
He is predeceased by Marcel (Bertha), brother-in-law Don Salkeld, baby Deana Salkeld (niece), Leo (Darlene), Mike Frey (Delphine), Tina (niece), and Jessica (niece).
